Sea Kayak Leader (4-star)Award

The British Canoeing (BC) Sea Kayak Leader (4 star) is an essential requirement for sea kayakers who want to lead or guide groups. Plus, the sea kayak leader award is a great way to develop your experience to a higher level.

Our courses cover the essential training elements of the BC Sea Kayak Leader (4 star) syllabus in some great tidal waters around Jersey. An advantage of sea kayaking in Jersey is that there is a huge range of different paddling opportunities to experience all within 20 minutes travel time.

Even if you do not plan to complete the Sea Kayak Leader (4 star) assessment, there will be plenty of opportunities to develop your skills.

Many paddlers like to add a couple days as a refresher before assessment or use the time on Jersey to gain extra log book and leadership hours.

Sea Kayak Leader (4 star) training is usually 2 days duration. However, we also offer 1-5 days extra paddling days to give you more time to develop your paddle skills and experience.

We are used to working with European and international clients and are happy to help ensure you have the correct pre-requisites in place for your assessment. We have French and German speaking staff and can assist with the translation of your certificates into English.

Fly from regional airports (Easyjet, BA, Flybe operate regular services all year) to make the most of your time on Jersey or bring your own kayak and travel by high speed car ferry. See our Places to Stay page for accommodation.

Our prices include kayaks and kit. We have sea kayaks from: Valley sea kayaks – Norkapps, Avocets, Aquanaut, P&H Delphin, Esky and Hammer. New for 2017 performance sea kayaks: Rockpool Taran and Tiderace Pace 17’s and Epic Surskis. Plus, a selection of Greenland and Werner paddles. All students will receive a Paddlers Performance Action Plan.

Notes

*Any loaned or hired equipment used on the assessment will be assessed as if it were your own, so ensure you know how it works.

**If you combine a training course with an assessment course, it is important to understand that attendance on a training course does not imply that you will have reached the required standard to pass the award at the end of the course. Much depends upon your level of paddle skills and experience. Ensure you have read and understand the syllabus for the relevant awards.

If you are considering undertaking Sea Kayak Leader (4 star) training and assessment by linking both courses together, please discuss this in advance.

***Leadership Registration (LR) Form. A copy of your completed and officially stamped LR form is required when you book/pay (no later than 3 days before the assessment). If you arrive without a valid LR form, we cannot asses you for the leadership award (4-star) and no refund of your course fees will be made. If you need advice or assistance, contact us in advance.
