Jersey Kayak Adventures gets top marks for educational visits

Jersey Kayak Adventures has shown itself to be at the top of the class for outdoor activities by being awarded the learning Outside the classroom (LOtC) quality badge.Learning outside the classroom quality award

The scheme combines learning and safety into one easily recognisable badge for organisations providing adventure and learning activities. The badge offers both parents and teachers a guarentee of quality and the knowledge that appropriate safety standards are in place through the use of qualified staff and suitable equipment.

The scheme aims to reduce red tape by creating a single award. Organisations displaying the badge demonstrate they meet national standards, so teachers do not have to carry out their own risk assessments.

“Before this award outdoor activities and visits for UK schools were increasingly getting bogged down in masses of red tape.”

“Teachers often found it difficult to know whether an adventure company was really meeting the grade because you could have the right standard in one area, but not in another. This award shows that the correct standards are in place for all our activities.” Said Director Derek Hairon.

The company underwent inspection by UK asessor.

About the Quality Badge

The Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge is a nationally recognised benchmark that brings together all existing safety and quality badges into one easily identifiable mark of quality. The Quality Badge makes it easier for teaching professionals to organise LOtC activities by helping them to identify organisations providing good quality LOtC activities, reducing paperwork and red tape.

The Quality Badge is awarded to organisations which have pledged to engage in an ongoing process to sustain good-quality learning outside the classroom and have demonstrated that they meet six quality indicators.
