Kayak safety courses 2014
Our 5 hour kayak safety class covers a range of skills to enable you to paddle with greater confidence and know your limits.
Maybe you have just bought a kayak or realise you need practice and training in kayak safety.
This short and intensive class covers those essential safety skills, we all mean to practice, but never quite get around to doing!
Kayak fishing,anchoring and specific safety skills relating to fishing from a Sit-on-top kayak can be covered if required.
Paddle skills are covered in more detail on our level 1 and 2 courses.
Capsizing. Self rescue techniques. Assisted rescues. Ways to avoid falling in. Personal safety gear. Safety kit. Using paddle floats. Towing. Float and trip planning.

BCU Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning (CNTP) 2014
Learn trip planning and sea kayak navigation skills to enable you to make the right choices.
This course is suitable for kayakers, divers and small boat users, or anyone, who wants to understand more about the tides and coastal navigation around Jersey.
Plan and navigate effectively on coastal journeys. The course includes weather, tides, chart work, trip planning and estimating tide streams, so you know how to select the best times and places to go afloat.
By the end of the course students will have planned at least two coastal journeys that they can take home and use as references for further trip planning.
The course meets the requirements of the British Canoe Union (BCU) coastal navigation and tidal planning syllabus. This course is a pre-requisite for anyone wanting to obtain the BCU 4 star leader sea kayak award.
All course equipment is supplied. The fee includes the course manual. If you require the certificate add £5 for BCU members or £10 non members.
A BCU certificate of attendance is awarded. This course (or a similar RYA navigation course) is a pre-requisite for the BCU 4 star sea kayak assessment.

Wind, Tides And Currents Course 2014
A short 6 hour course covering the basics on wind, tides and currents, e.g. how to read tide tables, tidal stream atlas and plan a simple journey.
Can be run on demand over two or three evenings or as a day course
Costs: £60 with all equipment provided.

8 hour First aid courses in Jersey
We can arrange an 8 hour Emergency First Response primary and secondary course with Emergency Response and Safety Education (ERASE).
This course meets the BCU coach update requirements for 8 hour First Aid courses.
Cost: £95 per person on scheduled course dates (includes manual and study pack)

If you need an 8 hour first aid course we can arrange custom dates. 1:1 courses £190. Custom dates for two people £230.
For three people or more we can arrange dates to suit your needs at £95 per person.

BCU Foundation Safety and Rescue training course (FSRT) 2014
Essential safety, rescue skills and training to deal with common paddlesport emergencies.
This award is essential for anyone wishing to become a BCU/UKCC level 1 coach.
Dates: Training and assessment day: 2014 date tbc. 0930-1600.
Expect to get wet. Dry suits can be hired for £10 per day.
